Argentina Aerosol Production STATISTICS for 2023

Last month, the Argentine Chamber of Aerosol-CADEA published the final figures of aerosol production in Argentina for the year 2023.

The production level of the aerosol industry reached 863.6 million units, showing an increase of 6.4% over 2022. This is the highest level in the last 6 years and positions Argentina as the 6th largest producer globally. Seventy-two percent of production was allocated to domestic consumption while the remaining 28% was aimed at global export markets.

Argentina has a population of 46 million inhabitants, and its per capita aerosol consumption is 13.5 units per year, placing the Argentine market as one of the most important in the world, compared to the global per capita consumption of 2,2 units and the Latin America´s average of 4 units per year.

With a high installed capacity and an important integrated value chain, 95% of the local production is concentrated in 3 categories: Personal Care Products 50%, Insecticides 23% and Household Products 22%.

The Personal Care category grew 15% over 2022, recovering the levels of 2018, primarily due to an increase in exports of personal deodorants. The Insecticides segment experienced a growth of 7% in 2023, driven by an increased demand during the last months of the year due to the presence of dengue-infected mosquitoes. A strong growth is expected for this category for the same reason, in 2024. 

The Household Products segment shrank to historical volumes after the high growth recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic. The products affected were disinfectants and sanitizers.

It is worth noting that there has been an increase in some product lines, which do not represent a high volume of demand, but stand out for their significant percentage variation, such as Medicinal Products (15%),Food (15%) and Sun Protection (29%).

Dr. Angel Rasgido, President of CADEA, stated that the aerosol industry continues to demonstrate its high productive potential despite Argentina's economic situation of recent years. Without a doubt, the most remarkable feature is the acceptance of aerosol products by a demanding consumer who prioritizes quality of life and values the high-performance standards offered by the aerosol technology.
